Hinderlie Hall - Pacific Lutheran University

Lloyd J.
Built in 1954, Hinderlie Hall was first named South Hall but changed to Hinderlie in 1966 in honor of Berent and Ragna Hinderlie. Berent joined the staff at PLU as a janitor in 1924 and worked at the university for 31 years until retiring in 1955. Berent Severlin Hinderlie was born September 1, 1878 in Irene, South Dakota and married Ragna on November 2, 1902 in Canby, Oregon. Ragna, whose maiden name is Arntsen, was born June 15, 1884 in Baldwin, Wisconsin. Hinderlie Hall sits in the middle of campus and offers many amenities, including: multiple kitchens with community refrigerators, a spacious ground floor lounge (which includes a ping pong table, a pool table, and vending machines), an equally spacious first floor lounge (which includes a big screen HDTV!), and a second floor lounge (known as The Sock) with a television. However, Hinderlie is best known around campus for its friendly front desk. At any time of the day a number of Hinderlie's gregarious residents can be found sitting around the front desk talking and laughing. It is all part of what makes Hinderlie a fantastic residence hall! #campus #college #hall #hinderlie #lutheran #pacific #Pacific_Lutheran_University #residence #residence_hall #tacoma #university #washington
