Solar House

Solar House

Keenan Ngo
This is a short study in building massing and orrientation for solar energy. The house is designed for passive heating & cooling and roof overhangs to control the accumulation of sun energy throughout the days of the year. High north facing celestory windows improve passive air circulation. The roof is sloped to install solar panels. Construction is SIPs with stud partition walls. The roof is also SIPs, supported by glulam beams. The south and west sides include a wrap around patio deck. There are two bedrooms, one of which can be converted into a study and the other which leads to a secret reading loft. There is a detatched garage. This house would target net-zero energy and is constructed with sustainability and green technologies in mind.
