This is a sketch I made to show how I feel the Point in Old Portsmouth should be developed in an old symaphetic style and not be allowed to become the Mini Gunwharf type delopment that was proposed for there before. The site on Boad Street is another one where all has come to a halt and should now be looked at again.
I'm not saying this is what should be built, just that it is easier to get an idea over in the form of an image or model.
I am not an architect or a developer, just someone who has grown up in this City and seen to many sites poorly devloped in recent years. So many complain but do nothing to offer alternatives. Far to many also play the wait and see game, unfortuantely once a building has been given consent it is almost impossible to get anything changed.
So I have put a few ideas on here in the hope of getting people talking.
Remeber, this is not about old against new, more what will enhance an area that may not come up for rebuilding again in several generations.
The existing building surounding those I have sketched on the left of this model are from someone called Si who has an incredible number of Portsmouth buildings drawn up. They help put my ideas in their correct backgrounds and I can't thank them enough.

My second update to this sketch is due to information that the site has been left vacant due to trouble with the land itself. The main building side of things stays the same, now though the whole development sits on a raft of concrete. It lifts it up which helps with flood prevention and has the added benefit of enabling the buildings to leave the ground below untouched.
Again to leave the existing area alone as much as possible, I have increased the area so a new sea wall can sit in font of the old and support the concrete raft.
As ever I'm no architect so I don't know if this all holds water, it is all about hopefully getting people thinking.
