Camera Tripod

Camera Tripod

ph37rd
This is the basis of a camera tripod I intend to build in the near future. Except for the top, all the pieces are made from 1x2 select pine, poplar and/or oak. The top would be made from a piece of oak 1x6. While not shown accurately in the model, the nuts and bolts will be wing nuts/bolts. For modeling purposes, standard nuts and bolts are easier to place using the Bolt Maker plugin. Because the bottom portion of the legs fold into the upper section, the thickness of the bottom 1-2" of the lower section will be reduced by sanding. This will allow dipping the "foot" into PlastiDip and still allowing it to fold away. I intend to run a piece of all thread up through the top to allow mounting of a ball or pistol grip style head. It will also extend down through the bottom to allow for securing the legs and hanging weight for stability. All wood pieces will be varnished for protection. Future additions may include tripod spike feet. Popular tripods use a 3/8"-16 thread for their ball/spike feet. Adding a threaded insert to each lower leg section would allow for this. #camera #tripod #wood
