The Aviators Retreat

The Aviators Retreat

Mike Brestel
This "retreat" (more like large industrial box) is located in the high mountains somewhere isolated from any significant population (the ultimate in NIMBY / BANANA development no doubt) Accessible only by airplane - with a short airstrip length small propeller planes need only apply (how did all the building materials get here you ask? hey this is my fun dont ask too many questions) Taking cues from airplane hangers this "home" features a three story vertically sliding glazed door unit, corrugated siding, metal windows and CMU (oh yes, more of that industrial aesthetic). Please use the scene tabs - I have ordered them in an interesting/logical progression The first floor contains the entry hall, garage, mechanical room and centered between is a billiards/bar room. To the front is a lap pool and hot tub (with views of the runway of course). In the rear is a water garden and greenhouse. To the left is a zen rock garden. Yes, not only is this a retreat for aviators but horticulturalists as well. Occupying the second floor is a two story Great Room that is flanked by the kitchen and a library. Secondary functions are pushed to the rear (e.g. powder, pantry, stairs etc). Third floor features include a Master Bedroom suite and Guest Bedroom suite. These are accessible by a "catwalk" overlooking the Great Room below and airstrip/pool/water garden beyond. Last but not least is the roof top deck with 360 degree panoramic views. Try not to fall through the various skylights please. Over the years I have collected lots of background entourage so I simply don't know all the names of the people whose models I used here (and there are many: trees, firewood, appliances, fixtures and handles, etc - thank you!).
