1912 Rauch and Lang limousine

Jochen G.
Rauch and Lang is an unknown early electric car company. This one, with the special limousine bodywork, was personally owned by Thomas Edison. Allthough in the early days electric cars were considered to be a woman's car, Edison owned one because he, offcourse, was familiar with electricity (something most people weren't in 1912). In 1909 there were 15,000 electric cars driving around New York City with loading stations on every few blocks, but then the oil companies had to choose if public transport was going to be powered by steam, electricity or gas. Offcourse they choose their own product, and that's what killed electric cars. We could switch to electric cars around the turn of the century, but we can't anymore today. It's pretty stupid.
