In 1940, the influential Dutch designer Gerrit Rietveld created this chair for a Dutch department store. This was part of a line of "crate furniture," made from stock lumber and simply screwed together. The orginal chair was reportedly painted red and yellow at first, but was painted gray in the 1060s. Many of the original chairs were used as outdoor furniture. I based this model on images from the 1stdibs.com web site.
You can see my model of Rietveld's crate desk here: https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model.html?id=ude1a7b91-5df4-4feb-8b20-27b63f105f91
