An accurate model of the Golden Arches in McDonald's corporate logo. The original concept was created by Jim Schindler in 1962 who introduced the idea of incorporating the two big yellow arches seen on the sides of the red and white-tiled outlets - from an angle they looked like the letter “M” - into a unified logo. Indeed the arches are considered Googie (a popular architectural style in the 50s) in origin. Also added was the slash (representing the roof) across the middle. The slash was replaced by the “McDonald’s” name in 1968. While the architectural arches themselves were dropped with the introduction of the mansard-roof, they have become synonymous with the brand and live on in the logo, which is used to this day. #1962 #arches #golden_arches #Googie #logo #McDonalds
