The Northrop P-61 Black Widow was the first specifically designed night intercept fighter designed to use radar. It had a crew of three including the pilot, the gunner and the radar operator. There were four 20mm (.79 in.) Hispano M2 machine guns in the lower fuselage and four 12.7mm (.50 in.) M2 Browning machine guns in the upper turret. The radar unit was a SRC-720 unit with a range of five miles. The planes length was 49'7" with a wingspan of 66'0" and a height of 14'8". The engines were Pratt & Whitney R-2800-65W Double Wasp radial engines rated at 2,250 HP each. The propeller diameter was 12'2".
