Those that live in Grand Rapids MI, know all too well that the Meijer store, located on 28th Street and Kalamazoo Ave., is old, worn out and in sore need of a top to bottom renovation or more preferably replaced by a brand new state of the art facility. Opting for the second option, I have created this model depcting my idea of a complete rebuid of that location. My plan calls for an adjacent Kalamazoon Ave. residential property off the SE corner of the Meijer property to be bought out and added to the Meijer property. This would make room for a brand new store to be situated as far to the back of the property as possible to provide more room for a higher capacity parking lot. The store itself would be an exact copy of the 150,000 sq. ft. Meijer location under construction in Birch Run, MI. Because the Meijer property encroaches residential communities to the south and southwest, a privacy wall supplimented with thick vegetation would be installed to screen off the hustle and bustle of the store from residence. The parking lot would be reconfigured for better traffic flow while accomadating more vehicles. Generous amouts of vegetation would be used to enhance the look of the store and entire property.
Note: The store front would face north.
