Suriname heritage
Merchant house adjacent to the Surinam river, built in 1900. There are 2 shops on the ground floor, and a large house on the 2nd floor and attic floor. The building is in urgent need of repairs. The interior of the 2nd floor is almost fully original, with beautiful detailing. The ground floor, on the contrary, has been cruelly altered. Nothing beautiful is left there. The predecessor of the house was destroyed by fire in 1900. The cooking house on the yard survived the flames. This little building may well be a century older than the main building. It is in bad shape.
