A British ocean liner of 31,938 tons, launched in 1906, she held the speed record across the Atlantic for 22 years. The Lusitania, her sister ship, was sunk by a German submarine in 1915 but the Mauretania continued, first as a troop ship in World War I, then on the Atlantic cruise service, until she was withdrawn in 1934. #British #merchant_navy #ocean_liner #paquebot #ship #UK
