This is a concept for a wind-powered electricity generator, but horizontal rather than vertical. The idea goes that the blades are just a thin sheet of metal or plastic bent around and held in place by the arms. These arms would be automatically extended or retracted depending on the strength of the wind (measured by the anemometer), therefore bending the blades more or less so that it doesn't spin too fast and break something. To stop, the arms extend fully so the blades are completely flat (so preventing the wind from pushing it around) and I'm contemplating including brakes as well.
