Although it lacked the armor, range, and armament of its American counterparts, the A6M3 nevertheless displayed almost unrivaled manueverability and in the right hands it proved to be a potent weapon. The Japanese produced thousands of "Zeroes" throughout the war, subsequently modifying it extensively. Later in the war, these planes were used for "Kamikaze" suicide attacks.
