Custom enclosure 2009 Mazda 3. Model has many layers. Designed & refined in WinISD for optimum performance with a JL Audio 500/1 amplifier. Box volume is 1.61 ft^3, tuned to 30.37 Hz. Max port velocity 16 meters/sec. at 30 Hz. Absolutely no port noise or chuffing. Max SPL of 113.4 dB at 37.47 Hz. Max excursion .621 in. at 22.89 Hz, perfect for the 10W6 V2. Designed to use built in low pass and high pass filters of the 500/1 amplifier. Low Pass=160 Hz (-12 dB per octave) and High Pass=24 Hz (-24 dB per octave). This gives an F3 of 27.17 Hz. If High Pass=36 Hz you'll get a flatter frequency response, with an F3 of 36 Hz. Design based on JL's own HO wedge design. Design allows mounting of amps to front of box - next to the woofer. e.g. 500/1 on the left and 300/4 on the right for the component speakers. A cut sheet is provided (separate model) for dimensions and angles. There are a few compound angles to cut, so a decent table saw is a must. Not indicated in the model is the fact that the ports' edges will be rounded over to reduce port turbulence.
Built and installed - It pounds... hard!! The dynamics are crisp and punchy. Not like that cr@p you hear pull up next to you at the gas pump. Sweet sound stage when combined with Polk DXi series component speakers. And the custom fit in the trunk looks awesome. My daughter's car sounds way better and louder than most of the dual sub systems at her school.
