The Mayari REC (Reconnaissance Vehicle) is a lightweight reconnaissance vehicle designed for airborne operations given its compact size and light weight. It can be transported by C-17’s and A500M’s and other similar transport aircrafts together with infantry and its crew.
The REC is designed to operate from observation points in the area of operations without requiring its crew to disembark the vehicle. It has a self-propelled observation post provided by the extruding center compartment of the vehicle with four panoramic windows, enabling the crew to observe their target without exiting the vehicle. The windows are thermal to prevent fogging during rainy season.
Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with a high powered camera with thermal and infrared imaging capability. The vehicle has four firing ports for self-defense and is equipped with smoke grenade launchers for masking during a retreat or a maneuver.
Crew protection is provided by an angled armor that can resist up to 7.62mm AP rounds, mine and IED protection are provided by a V-shaped hull and a sandwiched steel plate in its flooring.
