The EMD SD60 is a six-axle diesel electric locomotive manufactured from 1984 to 1995. These locomotives from the factory had a top speed of 70 mph and a power output of 3,800 HP.
In 2010, Norfolk Southern began a rebuild program to convert their SD60s into the model SD60E, given a new custom wide cab, called the Crescent Cab, with increased crash protection and upgraded electronics. 135 of the NS SD60s were rebuilt, however their goal of 240 was never achieved as the remaining SD60, SD60M, and SD60I locomotives were sold or scrapped starting in 2019.
