Since the ninth-generation E120, the Toyota Corolla sedan has been manufactured and sold in Taiwan as the Corolla Altis. With a strong reputation for reliability and value, the Altis was the best-selling car in the country for nearly two decades and earned the nickname of '神車' ('god car'), but has recently been dethroned by the Corolla Cross SUV. In 2019, the current-generation Altis based on the TNGA platform was released in Taiwan, with hybrid power included in the range for the first time.
