GE Dash 9-44CW - Southern Pacific

TRG
The Dash 9-44CW, sometimes referred to as the C44-9W, is a six-axle diesel-electric locomotives manufactured by General Electric Transportation from 1993 to 2004 alongside the AC4400CW in the catalog. Unlike the AC4400CW, the Dash 9-44CW uses DC traction motors, and most examples are fitted with GE's HiAd trucks, with one exception being CSX's later orders of CW44ACs, which are fitted with Radial C steerable trucks. Southern Pacific rostered about 100 units, from 8100 to 8200, painted in what is known as the SP "Bloody Nose" scheme, which was worn by their newer units up until the Union Pacific takeover of the system. Few of Southern Pacific's locomotives can still be seen in this scheme, and the paint is very faded on many of those units at that.
