EMD F40PH NPCU - Amtrak Downeaster

EMD F40PH NPCU - Amtrak Downeaster

TRG
The F40PH is an iconic diesel-electric passenger locomotive built from 1975 to 1992 by the General-Motors Electro-Motive Division (EMD), and from 1988 to 1998 by Morrison-Knudsen (M-K). These locomotives have a top speed of 110 mph and have a power output of 3,000 to 3,200 HP. The locomotive is based on EMD's GP40 road switcher, fitted with a full-width cab and body and given a head-end power (HEP) generator. As Amtrak replaced its fleet of F40PHs with new GE Genesis locomotives, they converted several F40PHs into non-powered control units (NPCU), and they had a 90 added to their road number. Amtrak 90213 is ex. Amtrak 213 and is one of four F40PH NPCUs that run on Amtrak's Downeaster service from Boston, MA to Brunswick, ME. #train #passenger #amtrak #locomotive #railroad
