The General Electric ES44C4 is an AC Traction 6-Axle diesel-electric road switcher introduced in 2009. These locomotives ride on an AAR A1A-A1a wheel arrangement, which means that the center axles on each truck are non-powered. The BNSF Railway was the principle buyer for these locomotives, with the Florida East Coast railway being the only other customer for this model of GE Evolution series engines. These locomotives can be spotted on just about any mainline train on BNSF's system.
