John Randal McDonald House 1949

John Randal McDonald House 1949

John Luttropp
Architect John Randal McDonald designed and built his first house for him and his young family. It is s simple two bedroom house with an open plan concept. Located in Racine, Wisconsin, the house has gone through several remodels and alterations since first constructed in 1949. My SketchUp model was built according to McDonald's original plans, but the actual house never looked exactly like this, as he initially added a screened-in porch—and later an enclosed porch—where the rear deck is located. The dining table and benches, along with the stacking stools, are also of McDonald's design and were created by me for this model, as well as the built-in furniture in the living room and bedrooms. The interesting two-sided fireplace is shown with a hood from McDonald's sketches, but not the one installed in the actual house. Thanks to those whose models I've included in my model. I've altered some of them to better fit the design of the house.
