The General Electric AC4400CW is a six axle diesel electric locomotive manufactured from 1993 to 2004. It runs on AC traction motors and it has a maximum power output of 4400 horsepower. It has an AAR C-C wheel arrangement and is equipped with a North American wide cab, as denoted by the model name.
Canadian Pacific ordered 478 AC4400CWs from 1995 to 2004. Many of the CP units were rebuilt into AC4400CWMs starting in 2017 by GE Transportation and were renumbered from 8100 to 8280. Following the Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern merger, to form what is now CPKC, these locomotives continue their work under a new brand and now pull mainline freight trains across three continents.
