This is the popular "Monkey Ship" at Mesker Park Zoo. Built in 1933, the concrete ship is a one-third replica of Christopher Columbus' Santa Maria. A band of rhesus monkeys called the ship home up until 1991 when they were moved to a more natural exhibit. At one point, small alligators loitered in the moat that surrounded the ship. The attraction was one of the stops mentioned in the book "Lolita" when they traveled across the country.
