Dunning Hall was built between 1964-66 and named in honor of the Dunning family: Henry A. B. Dunning, president of Hynson, Westcott, and Dunning, Inc., the pharmaceutical manufacturing company which developed Mercurochrome, and his three sons, all of whom graduated from Hopkins with PhDs in chemistry: J.H. Fitzgerald Dunning (trustee 1960-81), Henry A. B. Dunning, Jr., and Charles A. Dunning.
