Our balcony is facing west and therefore some shade is welcome during hot summer days.
This shade holder is made of pieces of 1" x 2". I used three 3" wood screws to attach to the balcony railing.
Very easy to install : front and back parts made of glued slats and hold together with one hinge at the bottom and locked with a latch at the top. A padlock secures it against all odds. All wood parts should be varnished and protected from rain.
