Sony PlayStation Controller Prototype

Sony PlayStation Controller Prototype

Brady B.
Before the PlayStation was released in 1994, development kits had to be sent to studios to ensure games would be ready for the console's launch. The first of these kits, codenamed MW.3, was so raw and incomplete that it lacked either sound hardware or a working CD drive (instead having to make do with a CD emulator). The Controller had the standard 4 buttons you see on PlayStation controllers today. The circle was "Correct/Yes", The cross was "Wrong/No", The square was for "viewing documents", and the triangle was for "player/game information".
