These buildings are located just west of the main complex in Forsmark. The facility is called SFR, Slutförvar för radioaktivt avfall, Final repository for radioactive operational waste, and are a part of SKB. SKB stands for Svensk Kärnbränslehantering AB, Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Co, and the company is owned by the four power companies and is tasked with managing and disposing of radioactive waste from the Swedish nuclear power plants in a manner that complies with extremely stringent standards. SFR, located at the Forsmark nuclear power plant, was the first of its kind in the world when it was built. Storage of the nuclear waste is 50 meters (164 feet) below ground, in rock caverns. Construction of SFR started in 1983 and was finished in 1988, with a total cost of 740 million SEK, 108 Million U.S. dollars. The model includes a more detalied overlay of the site, raised a few meters so it doesn't interfere with the terrain in GE.
