USS Connecticut (SSN-22), the second of the Seawolf class, is a US Navy, nuclear powered, fast-attack ("hunter/killer") submarine. Designed as the replacement for the Los Angeles class, the Seawolfs were designed to exercise sea control and for traditional submarine missions. Very quiet, very fast and with a very large weapons loadout (8 torpedo tubes), they are extremely capable. Only 3 were completed before the US Navy moved to a lower cost, more flexible design (Virginia class).
