MST3K - The Satellite of Love (v. 1.1)

My first model of 2013 - This is my 3d build of "The Satellite of Love," a bone-shaped spacecraft featured in the "Mystery Science Theater 3000" (MST3K) television series that ran from 1988 to 1999. The SOL orbited the Earth and was crewed by Joel Robinson, a Gizmonic Institute employee who was launched into space by a pair of evil scientists. Joel was then forced to watch low-budget, sci-fi and horror movies to study the effects on his mind. Instead, Joel created some robot companions: Cambot, Gypsy, Tom Servo and Crow, and the later two joined him in making fun of the movies. Between commercial breaks, Joel and the robots would do comedy skits sometimes related to the featured movie. Half way through the series, Joel was replaced by Mike Nelson, and the SOL traveled the cosmos trying to get away from the evil Pearl and her minions who continued to transmit cheesy movies. This model is heavily detailed but I only borrowed one component, what is called a "Truncated Icosahedron" shape, by "Art" that I found as the base for the polyhedral shapes of the capsules. I didn't model the interior - there are a few MST3K models of the doors already on 3d Warehouse. #comedy #humor #love #MS3TK #Mystery_Science_Theater #satellite #scifi #space #spacecraft #spaceship #television
