I decided to develop a type of 11-a-side zone football that would teach younger players how to attack and defend only their part of the pitch while also designing a new game that's both more entertaining and with more shots at goal. It also allows both boys and girls to play on the same pitch at the same time. The pitch is slightly smaller than a normal full-size pitch with a slightly smaller width goalmouth so the pitch should easily fit inside most running tracks. I have a fairly complete set of rules for those interested.
Zone football means that only the two opposing players in the zone with the ball can play the ball and once it enters another zone then it's in play for the players in that zone and so on and so on.
The diamond-shaped pitch is to encourage a more attacking-style game that would funnel the ball towards the goal and allow fans nearer to the pitch.
Love to see a school or college set up a pitch and give it a go!!
