The Biochemistry and Virus Laboratory was demolished in 2003, to make room for the new Stanley Hall of Biosciences, which opened in 2006. Designed by the Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Architectural Partnership, Stanley Hall is eight stories above ground, with three basement levels, holding 40 research labs, research support facilities, administrative offices, many classrooms, meeting rooms, and three auditoriums, the largest of which seating 300, as well as a café.
