NSC 73ft Centerbeam Flatcar - TTX

TRG
Around 20,000 73ft Centerbeam Flatcars were produced by National Steel Car (NSC) from about 1987 into the mid 2000s. This car is used for carrying lumber, sheetrock and other building materials. They must be loaded evenly on each side of the center beam, or else the car risks tipping over. This railcar can be seen on railroads across the United States, Canada and Mexico. This example wears TTX yellow. The TTX railcar pool, formerly known as Trailer Train, was a subsidiary of the Pennsylvania Railroad when it was created to run piggyback trailer intermodal service. Now it pools a wide variety of railcars, including boxcars, centerbeam flatcars, intermodal spine and well cars, and gondolas.
