Frank Lloyd Wright designed a house in 1939 for two college art professors, Misses Alma Goetsch and Katherine Winckler. Their house was built in 1940, and was intended to be one of several built in a Usonian community in Okemos, Michigan, but theirs was the only house constructed. The as-built house had quite a few changes from the plans, one of which—a small cellar for utilities and canned goods—was not approved by Mr. Wright. It also used paneling for the ceiling rather than tongue and groove boards, and the bathroom and kitchen (or Workspace, as Wright liked to call it) were built a different configurations.
My model is based on design drawings I found online and in some books, and does not reflect the house as built. I guessed at a possible design for the clerestory perforated panels as a design similar to this was found in one of the drawings. I have a feeling they would have been more detailed and different than these, but I liked them. I have included a Jaguar XKE in on view, an homage to a historical photo of the house.
Thanks to those whose models I've used. Some of them I had to alter a bit, and the Jaguar model I used by lowriderfreak had to be exploded and reconstructed as it was not casting shadows, so the credit isn't connected to it. Most of the model, including the furniture, was built by me as I wanted a fresh start from the models I found online. I hope you enjoy my model.
