Railroad Bridge over Pershing at 4th Street

Railroad Bridge over Pershing at 4th Street

Davenport GIS
This railroad bridge was likely built in 1872 when the railroad crossing into Davenport, Iowa from Rock Island, Illinois was moved from the previous location at Federal Street to Iowa Street. The Federal Street crossing was the first railroad bridge across the Mississippi. In the summer of 2009, the Quad-City Metro Arts summer youth employment program designed and painted the mural which is on the northwest corner of Pershing and 4th Streets. The mural called "Davenport in Motion." Sarah Robb was the artist who led the project.
