The Friendship IV is one of eight nearly identical vessels that can be found at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. These boats can be seen cruising the waters of World Showcase Lagoon in Epcot and Crescent Lake, the body of water that connects the Epcot resorts. The Friendships, named Friendship I through Friendship VIII, provide transportation within Epcot, as well as between Epcot, Disney's Swan and Dolphin Resorts, Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, Disney's Boardwalk Resort, and Disney's Hollywood Studios.
Originally, a slightly different design of Friendships was used during the opening years of EPCOT Center in the 1980's. Two vessels, named Friendship I and II, provided transport within World Showcase. With the construction of Crescent Lake and the Epcot resort area, eight new Friendship boats were constructed. These ships, with a slightly different design scheme, debuted circa 1990 and are still used today. Each boat has a capacity of 100 passengers, and travels at the very leisurely speed of about 6 knots (roughly 7 m.p.h). Additionally, each boat sports its own custom color scheme, which you can learn more about by following the link below. #Boats #Disney #Epcot #Friendship #Resort #Showcase #WDW #World
