Launched in 1895 and with a displacement of 14,900 tons, the Majestic was the first in a class of nine pre-Dreadnought battleships which were the last to have side-by-side funnels. The Victorian livery of white and buff upperworks and black or dark green hull was changed early in the 20th century to standard battleship grey.
