EMD F40PH-2 - CSX Transportation

TRG
The F40PH is an iconic diesel electric locomotive built from 1975 to 1992 by the General-Motors Electro-Motive Division (EMD), and from 1988 to 1998 by Morrison-Knudsen (M-K). These locomotives have a top speed of 110 mph and have a power output of 3,000 to 3,200 HP. Amtrak currently has no unmodified F40PHs left in service, with the only units in revenue service being non-powered control units (NPCU). CSX purchased four F40PH locomotives and had them rebuilt into F40PH-2s to pull their OCS trains. The four were numbered 9991,9992,9993, and the last one 9999. The other three F40PHs were rebuilt into CSX1, CSX2, and CSX3 respectively, and were all given a Baltimore & Ohio (B&O) tribute scheme. CSXT 9999's whereabouts are currently unknown, but it is rumored that it will be painted into another heritage paint job in a similar fashion to CSX's other F40PH-2s. #train #railroad #csx #freight #locomotive
