01.030.0837 Saddle Flashing Detail - Anchored Brick Veneer | CMU Backing

International Masonry Institute
This detail illustrates the moisture management conditions required of a low masonry wall that terminates perpendicularly into a high masonry wall which transitions from a single wythe interior partition wall below the roof to a multi-wythe exterior wall above. Masonry is stepped up at the intersection to support the subsequent saddle flashing, through-wall flashing, and face brick veneer. The top of the parapet is stripped in with transition membrane continuing around the supporting masonry of the high wall. A one-piece sheet metal saddle flashing is installed over the low wall, supported by the stepped-up masonry at the intersection of low and high walls. A sheet metal receiver with end dam is then installed over the saddle flashing, extending along the entire length of the high wall above the roof line. Thru-wall flashing and metal counterflashing engage with the receiver. Face brick and coping are then installed.
