The Omega-class freighter is a large Imperial freighter class used by the Galactic Empire. The Omega freighter was gray and bulky, with the main hull similar in design to the AT-AT body. Its enlarged midsection featured side ramps that open for loading or unloading cargo. The cockpit that was situated in front and beneath the hull was similar to the Lambda-class shuttles in design. It featured two different sets of engines; it featured three standard heavy-duty ion engines on a triangular formation that provide primary thrust. The other set of engines were a pair of four smaller engines used for VTOL procedures; two at the rear and below; the other two at the front and above.
Its only armament for self-defense were its two fire-linked turbolasers; a design feature also seen on the TIE Mangler, albeit on a larger scale. At 96 meters long, it was designed to handle a large cargo capacity in a similar manner to most bulk freighters, carrying up to 65,000 metric tons of cargo. Unfortunately, it has no shielding, thus it has to be supported by TIE Fighter squadrons, or escorted by patrol vessels such as IPV-1 system patrol craft.
