Traffic island bollards are generally used to guide vehicles and bikes around an obstacle in the road or a direction in which they should travel in. They are also used to display a restriction like no entry or trams only that applies to certain vehicles and displaying a shared use pathway showing which side bikes and pedestrians should use.
