German WW2 torpedo launcher for land use. G7a (TI) torpedo

Harpoon
This type of torpedo launcher was used on many types of German surface ships during WW2. In either triple or quadruple configuration for the G7a(TI) torpedo. After the naval battle at Narvik Germany lost many destroyers and some of the launchers were salvaged and used ashore. The origin of the one at Herdla is unknown to me. The model is based on old pictures and manual from Norwegian post war use, general drawings as well as measurements and photos of a surviving single tube. This had not been possible without cooperation with “Natter”. The launcher was modified when used ashore as shown in the model with remote fire control from command post. The control cabin as often found when mounted on ships was removed and the controls moved to the side. Only a basic reserve sight was kept on the opposite side of the controls. Primary launch method was air pressure ashore and on bigger ships with pressured air present. Be aware of that clicking the base activate turning of the launcher. This is extremely slow (60 sec) even on fast computers due to the complexity of the model. All rights reserved Harpoon © 2016 This model is part of a series of torpedoes and torpedo launchers. Some published and more to come. #Atlantic_Wall #Festung_Norwegen #Herdla #Regelbau #Torpedo
