St. Regis
The architecture firm of Trowbridge & Livingston designed the St. Regis for John Jacob Astor IV, who eventually met his fate aboard the Titanic. The Beaux-Arts hotel was to serve the wealthiest of patrons with a telephone in every room and individually controlled heating and cooling systems (predating modern air conditioning). A restaurant in the hotel was designed around a Maxfield Parrish mural. #AIA_150 #building #hotel #landmark #landmarks #luxury #Manhattan #New_York #NY
