Starting in May of 2023, CSX Transportation began a program of painting General Electric ES44AH locomotives in heritage paint schemes commemorating its predecessor railroads. This locomotive was painted in the Western Maryland red and white paint scheme. The WM was one of the constituent railroads of the Chessie System, along with the Baltimore & Ohio and Chesapeake & Ohio railroads.
