Commode made for Louis XV's mistress, Madame du Barry, in 1772 for her appartment at the Chateau of Versailles. Stamped with the mark of the cabinet maker Martin Carlin, and mounted with Sèvres porcelain placques and gilded bronze mounts. Pieces of furniture mounted with Sèvres were extremely rare and expensive. An exsquisite example of the artistry of 18th French century furniture. #18th_century #bureau #chest_of_drawers #commode #French #furniture #Louis_XV #Madame_du_Barry #mobilier #Sevres #Versailles
