A fibration of the exterior of the Hopf link.

A fibration of the exterior of the Hopf link.

Ken B.
We view the exterior of the Hopf link from within one of its components as a solid torus with its core removed. Its boundary is formed by two tori. The Hopf link is a fibered link; its exterior may be regarded as a circular stack of surfaces which we call pages. For the Hopf link, each page is topologically an annulus. We show twelve pages of an embedding of this fibration. The boundary of the Hopf link exterior and each page of the fibration may be individually turned on and off in the Layers palette. #fiber #fibration #Hopf #Knot #link #Math #open_book #Topology #torus
