The neoclassic Palace of Public Education was built according to the plans of Antal Steinhardt and Adolf Land in 1896 in late-eclectic style. At the entrance of the Museum we can see the statues of Klió and Euterpé (the muses of heroic poetry, history and music) In front of the columns we can see the statues of Sokrates and Homer. Above the tympanum of Móra Ferenc Museum the two Vestal virgins are standing, between them we can see the symbol of the sun. On both sides of the tympanum two winged lions can be found.
Today the whole building is a museum. There is a permanent exhibition of the Lucs Collection where we can see paintings of e.g. Pál Színyei Merse, Károly Ferenci, István, Csók or József Rippl- Rónai and Vilmos Aba-Novák. We can also wonder of the exhibition of the history of chemistry and science exhibition which has the title “ We have only one Earth”. We can also see the archeological exhibition with the title “They called themselves Avars”. #Museum #Móra_Ferenc #Múzeum #Roosvelt_tér #Szeged
