Bruce Spencer residence 1958

John Luttropp
Florida architect Bruce Spencer designed this home for himself in Lakeland, FL in 1958. Constructed of Ocala block, the house was created in two wings separated by an open courtyard. The architect later enclosed the courtyard and added Japanese-inspired details to the now enclosed atrium. The house was restored by Tim and Vanessa Hills, and Tim created the primary form of this model in SketchUp, including the dimensions, block walls, window and glass door units and basic layout. After visiting Tim at the house, with him sharing his model with me, I was inspired to add the detail work to complete the model. Thanks to all of the SketchUp modelers whose models I have used in completing this, and especailly to Tim Hills for sharing his initial model of the house with me. #Florida_architecture #Lakeland #MCM #MidCentury_Modern #Ocala_Block
