GMDD GP40-2W - Canadian National 9402

Trans-Galactic Express
The GP40-2(W) was manufactured by the General Motors Diesel Division in Canada for Canadian National Railway between 1972 and 1986. Unlike the American counterpart built by General Motors' Electro-Motive Division, the GP40-2, the GP40-2W boasts a wide Canadian comfort cab found on many of CN's road switchers. A total of 268 units were built for CN, with 9400-9632 being GP40-2L units, and 9633-9677 being GP40-2(W) units. The GP40-2L mainly differed from the GP40-2W in that they carried lower capacity fuel tanks like that of the GP39-2 with the L standing for "Light frame". Many thanks to Fat_Bear for the GP39-2 used to make this GP40-2W. #train #railroad #diesel #canadian_national #cn
