The Venator-class Star Destroyer, a ship made by the Warship Section of Kuat Drive Yards, was a class of Star Destroyers developed during the waning years of the Galactic Clone Wars. Those that found themselves in command of a Venator had the firepower equivalent to the later Imperial-II class Star Destroyers at their command. Some went on to command larger classes of Star Destroyers used by the Galactic Republic; such as the Guardian-class, Unification-class, and even the Chancellor-class Star Destroyer before the reformation of the Galactic Republic. Role-wise, the Venators were mostly fleet-based vessels, working as either support carriers or assault ships in a battlegroup, apart from individual ships that found themselves on secret assignments.
